Half a Christmas

For 16 years, we’ve given away our Christmas Eve offering to organizations beyond the walls of our church. Christmas is not our birthday; it is Jesus’ birthday. So let’s give Him something that He would enjoy!

The idea behind Half-a-Christmas is simple:

✅ Take the amount you might normally spend on Christmas.

✅ Cut it in half.

✅ Only spend half on yourself, and give the other half away.

Our 17th offering will be given to Ministry on the Margins and Youthworks. Our goal is $25,000.

Plan now for the Christmas Eve 2025 offering and join us as we give extravagantly!

You can give:

  • In-person at Sunday worship or during Wednesday night activities
  • Dropping by the office (9 am – 1 pm Monday – Thursday)
  • Any time at legacyumc.org/give (select “Monthly Impact Fund” OR “Half-a-Christmas” in the dropdown)

History

The first offerings were given solely to the Ruth Meier’s Hospitality House. In recent years, they have also been given to United Way’s Emergency Homeless Shelter and other regional ministries like new church plants and the Baaken Oil Rush Ministry. In 2022, we raised $30,000, split between the United Way’s Homeless Shelter and the Missouri Valley Coalition for Homeless People.

For the past 16 years, we’ve given away over $600,000 to organizations beyond our walls! It’s part of our mission to be a Community of Impact.
